About

Amari Divine:

“She is indescribable, to say the least. Born and raised in the South, you’ll find her to be one that uses many Southern idioms, euphemisms, and colloquialisms. In her mid-20s, she holds a Bachelor’s degree focusing on Sociology and Psychology. While having many passions, she is very aware of her intersectionality and will quickly ask you to check your privilege. She’s feisty, and denounces the ‘Angry Black Woman’ stereotype. The Misogynoir Slayer is here, y’all”

The Gawdess Project:

“She is a work in progress. Jamaican Born- Brooklyn Bred. 25 years young, she holds a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration (an administrator, not a teacher). She currently holds a position at a Predominately Black Institution. A self-proclaimed Soapbox Sally, she rarely misses an opportunity to get up on a soapbox ready to correct any misconceptions of the Black community. She is here for and will ride for her Black people in just about any situation, as long as you walk in your truths. Remember, supporting Black people (mainly women) doesn’t come with a ‘Restrictions May Apply’ clause”

Thunderstorm Temple Priestess:

“Mom, vegan, and wanderluster barely scratch the surface of who this femeloutionary is. Harboring an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, she holds degrees and certificates ranging from healthcare, to education, to the nonprofit and public sector. This 30ish Midwesterner born and raised in the heart of it all is also passionate about knowledge of self and using it to preserve from the spiritual to the racio-cultural level. She believes that to achieve this, women and girls (especially of color) need spaces to be ourselves unapologetically and free from patriarchal narrative and lenses….. The femeloution will not be televised.”

What’s in a name? My name is Empress Assata. The dictionary defines Empress as: a woman who is a sovereign ruler of great power and rank, especially one ruling an empire. Whilst Assata means “she who struggles”. Isn’t it ironic that I would chose to be recognized as a ruler of an empire yet be one that is struggling? I am the epitome of a great big contradiction. Yet in this journey of wombmanhood the struggle is beyond worth it. Growing up in the East Coast in a neighborhood immersed in Caribbean culture, I began to pridefully express my descent of the first freed African Nation in its truest name, Republique d’Ayiti in various forms. Yet in pursuit of Higher Education, I recognized that my lineage did not simply begin in a beautiful mountainous island in the Caribbean Sea, but on the West Coast of Afrika and it was then I realized that I am a BLACK WOMBMAN. My studies have taken me all over the world through literature and documentary. While I have yet to returned to Muva’s home, I am focusing on the plight of those who’s blood spilled in the streets of this country that I am raising my legacy in. There is no doubt that adding acronyms to my last name have made me more marketable  to Corporate Amerikkka, but those same acronyms qualify me to begin a journey of reconstruction within my community. I write as a SisTer, Mother & Friend with an aim to educate first, challenge your mind second and third…. WAKE YOU THE FUCK UP. I am in a world struggling to maintain my third eye as Fury engulfs me often wit a great hint of petty and an even larger hint of love. I live by the Sankofa: In order to know where you are going, you must know where you have been. I am the Captain of my Soul… struggling in a world where my third eye wishes to close so I can live in ignorance…….

I am the struggling ruler
